Commander of the Worm Guard
Captain Wiggleworth
Bravest wiggler in all of VermiTopia. The Captain leads the Worm Guard, a squad of millions of earthworms who live in the kingdom’s filter beds and gobble up organic gunk around the clock.

A kingdom beneath your feet
Where Earthworms Rule the Land... and Clean the Water!
Deep beneath the ground, the earthworms of VermiTopia work day and night to keep the kingdom’s rivers sparkling. Say hello to the bravest squirmers around!

Commander of the Worm Guard
Bravest wiggler in all of VermiTopia. The Captain leads the Worm Guard, a squad of millions of earthworms who live in the kingdom’s filter beds and gobble up organic gunk around the clock.

Oxygen Officer
Bubbles is obsessed with oxygen. She knows that when oxygen runs low in a river, fish and other critters struggle — so she’s BODzilla’s number-one rival.

Junior Soil Ranger
The youngest hero in VermiTopia, Sprout asks a hundred questions a day and is always found in the Royal Gardens, proving that healthy soil means a healthy planet.

Tiny Allies, Giant Impact
Too small to see without a microscope, the Microbe Squad lives on every grain of soil and every worm casting. Worms and microbes are best friends — they clean water as a team.
They’re messy, they’re rowdy, and they’re hilariously bad at hiding. Each villain represents a real kind of water pollution that scientists measure and treat.
VillainRepresents: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)
“Slurrrp! More oxygen for MEEE!”
A big, goofy, always-hungry monster made of organic waste. As bacteria break him down they gobble up oxygen in the water, leaving fish gasping. He slurps oxygen like a milkshake.
VillainRepresents: Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
“Behold my kingdom of MUD!”
Self-crowned king of murk. The Tyrant clouds water with tiny floating particles that block sunlight, smother fish habitat, and carry other pollutants along for the ride.
VillainRepresents: Mixed chemical contaminants
“You can’t catch us ALL, wormies!”
A rowdy gang of contaminants — excess nutrients, oils, and other troublemakers. Some can be reduced by biological treatment, but others are tough customers that need different tools entirely.

The Worm Doctor
The Royal Wormatorium
Chief worm scientist of VermiTopia and trusted mentor to every hero in the kingdom. When pollution strikes, the Worm Doctor studies the problem, rallies the worms, and finds a natural solution.
Give a worm a chance, and it will change the world — one wiggle at a time.

R&D Manager
VermiTopia Research Laboratory
Geri runs the VermiTopia Research Laboratory, where she designs experiments, tests new ideas, and helps players invent pollution-fighting technology for the kingdom.
Every experiment teaches us something — even the messy ones!

The Worm Wrangler
VermiTopia Field Operations
The hands-on field leader who keeps worm beds, pumps, pipes, and treatment systems running. When the kingdom needs a practical fix, Jerad brings the tools and gets to work.
Healthy systems. Happier worms. Cleaner water.
VermiTopia is make-believe — but the science is real. Explore how earthworms and microbes help clean water and build healthy soil.
Earthworms have no lungs, no eyes, and no bones — and they’re still among nature’s most important engineers.
Dig deeperVermifiltration trickles wastewater through layers of wood chips, soil, and gravel packed with earthworms and microbes.
Dig deeperTwo of the most common ways to measure water pollution are BOD and TSS — the real-life versions of our villains.
Dig deeperPollution can come from homes, farms, factories, and streets. Treating wastewater protects rivers, lakes, and drinking water.

VermiTopia is an independent, imaginary world — but Dr. George Damoff and Geri are affectionate cartoon tributes to real scientists at Perca, a wastewater treatment company in Walla Walla, Washington. Perca uses earthworms and biological treatment systems to help clean real wastewater.
